CALIFORNIA, Day 1 The Kodis were leaving the end of the strip and were heading 8 miles North.  After Tom made the last coffee in the Keurig in the room, and they munched on some ham croissants (Tom slurping on a large hot chocolate that he picked up at Hazel's Coffee shop downstairs when Kodi was showering) they checked all the drawers and corners carefully before heading downstairs.  Tom stood with the luggage as Kodi spoke to the gal behind the desk.  Smiling, the clerk said "I hope you enjoyed your stay. We'll be charging $3.45 to your credit card on file."  Kodi's brain sort of did a cartwheel ( like her stomach was STILL doing, in spite of the Pepto Bismal tablets she was taking each day.)  She had, she thought, made sure that she'd be leaving with small resort credit of about $8 left on her room.  When asked, the clerk told her the $3.45 was for the tip left at Hazel that morning.  Now, we're not saying, exactly ( YES we are!) that Tom pays no at...

Part 1.  Planning and staying at Mandalay Bay. In mid December 2022,  Kodidog's email account began to be flooded with subliminal assaults from the MGM group in Las Vegas.  After resisting these for as long as she could ( delete, delete, delete) she began to look at airfares from Toronto for the following Spring, and to discuss possibilities with Tom. He'd rather cruise, he said.  It had been many years since their  last one, but as they searched the internet and read for a few days, it appeared that the passengers were still dealing with issues relating to Covid outbreaks.  So Vegas mode took over.    Airfare was workable with some 'credit card point' help.  The MGM offers had resort fees waived, a generous resort credit fo 4 nights and some free play, that would be DOUBLED during mid-week stays!  Santa said he'd bring slippers for Tom, since he badly needed them, and a new frying pan for Kodi...nothing further.  Kodi and Tom shoul...

  Kodidog’s Tales of Dames With Canes Kodi has a friend who was born in Holland, but has lived in Canada for a great deal of her adult life.  They see each other about twice a year, and in July 2022 they got together for Toos’ fabulous Bhami, an Indonesian dish that she cooks beautifully. Both of them were musing about their upcoming birthdays 🥳 in September.  Kodi would be 74 and Toos 78.  Oh where did those years go…. 🙃 ? Toos was feeling restless, as her health hadn’t been good, and she’d not been out of the house much since the beginning of 2022.  The first time she had gone shopping with her granddaughter, and then to a restaurant for lunch afterwards, she’d caught Covid. Life seemed pretty grim to her.   Kodi said “ I don’t know how much more traveling you will be doing, but while you can..think about seeing Las Vegas.
