A Happy Hour date and , whose birthday is it anyway?

Sunday morning, they woke up to another beautiful day in the desert.

Kodi limped over to the window and stood there trying to figure out what was setting her occasionally cranky right hip off.  When she’d tried to get into bed the night before, She had to lift her leg up onto the bed with both hands, whimpering while she did so.

She hadn’t been walking much, or using many stairs,  which could cause the problem, she knew. Maybe it was the seats in the movie theatre…they were very comfortable but she’d had to get up and down multiple times because of popcorn lady and her entourage.  It may have been just sitting in the various slot chairs, or standing in lines, or using the low toilet in the room.

Whatever  caused it, she wasn’t able to put her full weight on it without considerable pain. Time for a 12 hour Advil and a prayer…and extra coffees with Baileys. 😉

She wasn’t really hungry, so she suggested that Tom head downstairs to eat and she’d take her time in the room, having a shower and relaxing, until the medication began to work. He said he’d go down ahead of her, but not til she was safely out of the shower.  15 minutes later when she was back on solid ground, clean but still dripping..she called out and told him to go and eat.

She wanted to get this hip thing under control, because they had a date later that day.

One of the other Orleans coupons they had was for a free medium fountain drink with a sub order at the Food Court Subway . He was thinking Chicken Teriyaki and a Coke  or Pepsi.  He ended saving $3.67, so it was sort of a ‘win’ , right? 😏

On the way to find Tom, Kodi passed by the stand where she often watched one of her favourite employees at the  casino, always smiling while he worked . She only had cloth-covered running shoes, so couldn’t give him any business.

Kodi joined Tom, just as he was finishing off  the sub, sitting at a table.  Her discomfort had eased off considerably , but she suggested  that once he was done, going to the double seat Lightning Link they had some luck at previously, so she could get her Baileys coffee top-off fix.  They both put money into the machine, and Kodi ended up with a $60 coffee, but not much fun.

They played everything that morning, and were not successful anywhere.  She even tried Buffalo, which had always hated her, since so many forum members have great luck with it...  This was one of the least satisfying trips they’d ever had, gaming  wise. And the chances to win back what they had wagered over the last two weeks were quickly diminishing.  Kodi, however has a hopeful heart, so rather than just put the money they had left into the take home envelope, ( which might have been a sensible choice) and watch a lot of TV in the room 😜 until their plane left in two days, she was going to keep trying.

Tom stayed downstairs, and she headed up to the room, to rest her hip and think about taking more medication before they went out that night. She also had  to download and complete their Arrivcan App so they could re-enter Canada. She had heard that many people had issues doing this, but thankfully she didn’t run into any problem.

After relaxing in the room for an hour, Kodi DID decide to take an extra 12 hour pill. She wasn’t a big drinker and even though they were going out for Happy Hour, she wasn’t even sure she’d have anything alcoholic.  She certainly was getting hungry though!  Her tummy needed Happy Food.

Tom came up at 3:00 to check on her, because they were getting picked up near the Valet benches at 3:30…and he knew how slowly she might be moving.  He changed some of his smokey clothes, and they were ready to roll.

They were excited to be joining their friend ‘Kiddo’ who they had met years ago at a Vegas Meet.  If they were in Town at the same time she was, they made it a point in to her at least once.  This trip, she was just arriving when they were getting ready to head home, but it looked like they would actually see her twice!

One of Kiddo’s favourite restaurants was the Cornerstone Steakhouse at the Gold Coast Hotel.

Kodi hadn’t advertised the fact that they were planning a trip to Vegas on short notice, but when she heard that Kiddo would be there as well, she let her know. That worked out to their advantage, since she had invited them to join her for Happy Hour at the Cornerstone when she arrived. AND, she had a car, so could pick them up, and save them transportation costs! ðŸĨ° So they weren’t unlucky with friends, just with machines, LOL…

They weren’t sure what car would arrive at 3:30, and although Kiddo was planning on using the  thru lane , for them to get in when she stopped for a second, she was ten shades of purple, coming up the other roadway, because it seems that someone had left their car unattended in the thru lane and it was totally blocked.

When Kodi went to open the front door, once they identified Kiddo’s car, she chuckled out loud.

This was the name some members gave any car she drove in Vegas, because she was so generous with her time, and offered rides to others very often.  They wondered if any strangers saw the sign this time and tried to flag her down. 😉

They arrived at Gold Coast a few minutes before the steakhouse opened, so all sat nearby…with Kodi and Kiddo having lousy video poker luck, and Tom managing the same on video keno.  They were among the first few guests to be warmly welcomed into the restaurant once the doors opened, and were shown to a table in the comfortable lounge.

Kiddo recommended a number of things that she had previously tried, and said that they made lovely Lemon Drops. Kodi was thinking of just having water until something caught her eye.  Blonde4ever is fond of a drink called a Mule. Kodi tried a sip of hers years ago, and wasn’t particularly impressed, but THIS one….hmmm. It rather appealed to her.  She blushed and ordered a Filthy Cherry Mule…and it was SO good!

She got the tempura shrimp on Kiddo’s recommendation, and the Prime Rib Sliders, to help soak up the alcohol. Tom chose a wedge salad and meatballs. They talked and ate and laughed, and talked, and drank, and talked.

Kiddo has this trait that friends can’t break…of seeing things and thinking of someone, and then buying it for them sometimes calling it and early, or late birthday gift. ☺️. Kodi is still wearing a scarf and using a luggage lock from years ago.  So, unexpectedly, Kiddo whipped something from behind her back where had she hid it from them? ðŸĪŠ  She  gave Tom a cheesehead magnet, and Kodi a large cylinder, saying happy early and late  birthdays!  Kodi didn’t fully open hers until she was back home…and loved it naturally. 😍

After dinner, they put a bit more $ into Gold Coast machines and then  cashed a couple of dollars out before getting a ride back to the Orleans.  Kodi had left her slot card in the last machine she played, but Kiddo was able to recover it for her later that night..saying “ Who would take it anyway?” because it was Dog  Dung Ruby.

When they exited the Kiddo Kab that night, the driver said. “ Remember…I’ll pick you up Tomorrow morning at 9:30. Don’t be late.”

Yes, it was going to be a fun time….

It almost makes me wish for rain!

Kodi wouldn’t have been able to put the Genie back into the bottle..so didn’t open it until she got home. ..haha.
