The Kiddo Kab Karries the .Kodis to somewhere Wicked and Wonderful

Looks CAN be deceiving….

“Tom, hurry up and make my coffee…two  cups please...  I’m still working on getting both legs off the bed. Ow, ow, ow.  Thanks.  Why don’t you have your shower, while I let the double dose of Advil kick in, and then I have to try to get my clothes out of the suitcase, before I get ready.

By the time Tom was dressed, Kodi could limp around rather effectively, and had stopped complaining every time she stood on her right leg.  Things would be good, if she had  him at her left side to grab onto if necessary, and if the inflammation subsided a little . She needed to get home, and take meds for a few days and use a recliner and heating pads, and all this crap would settle down as usual.  She just needed to hang in there.😊

The reliable Kiddo Kab was right on time, and pulled up in the lane they were expecting this time.  Their driver, who seemed to have a built in compass in her head quickly figured out the best way to get to the Cosmopolitan, but now needed to find out how to get into the correct underground parking area…..

“ Okay, there is the sign!  What the hell, no one will let me over!  They can see I have my signal on.  Damn , now I’ve passed the entrance, and can’t get back.”

It was unbelievable how rude the drivers next to them had been..but they continued until they came to another underground entrance at the next tower, and then drove around for quite a while inside , until they spotted a handicapped parking space next to an entry door, and elevators.  That would be perfect.  The Kiddo Kab needed a handicapped spot, because it’s driver walked with a cane, and had mobility issues.  They took note of their location in the Boulevard Tower.

Of course what they did not realize, was that the Wicked Spoon Buffet, where they were headed,  was in the Chelsea Tower…right above where Kiddo had been cut off from entering the parking garage originally .

This meant that Kiddo and her cane, and Kodi and her hip needed to walk about a mile, from one end of the hotel to the other… with Tom wondering which one he was going to have to pick up first!  The floor, marked ‘restaurants’ where they exited the elevator, had long stretches of corridors between venues such as Eggslut and other specialty places, and ballrooms ,  with no type of seating anywhere during the long walk. This proved very problematic.  Kodi being far-sighted was filled with dread because she was thinking of the return journey back to the car already.

Of course, they did get where they needed to be, eventually.  The Brunch buffet wasn’t open yet, so more standing was necessary, as there were no benches anywhere outside the restaurant either .  Kiddo and Kodi competed for wall leaning space. 😉

Why, you may ask were they even there?  When Kodi had told Kiddo about the trip, Kiddo already had a plan to meet another Canadian that she knew , on the 25th for a meal.  Kodi had met  this person as well and hadn’t seen her in over 10 years..it was amazingly serendipitous .  ðŸĪĐ

Originally Kodi and Tom weren’t going to accept the invitation though , because this higher end buffet was not in the budget, but they relented, and were really looking forward to seeing beautiful, big-hearted  ‘Bre’ that  morning.

Kiddo got a text from Bre saying that she was delayed, but would join them shortly.   It wasn’t long before they spotted her coming down the hall….and Kodi would have known her anywhere, with that big smile!  She’d been downstairs at the Player’s desk arranging for a line pass for them all,  which was much appreciated. 😌

They were seated at a table with a bench on one side, that Kodi quickly claimed, so she could have extra space to support herself when getting up and down, and stretch her leg sideways a bit, as that darn hip was beginning to sing rather loudly.  Bre and Kiddo were going to enjoy Mimosas with the meal, but Kodi and Tom decided on water which they would probably follow with a hot beverage later.  They politely ( remember, there were 3 Canadians at the table) sat and waited for a server to take their beverage order…oh,  and to bring Kodi a silverware ðŸī packet.

They waited, and they waited…then they waited some more.

They discovered, when stopping the closest server frequently passing them, that their table wasn’t really assigned to anyone that morning.  So if you eat at Wicked Spoon , be sure to request that you are not seated in the LIMBO section. ðŸĪĢ

The girl that they spoke to, did bring the silverware, ( but no one had a ðŸĨ„ . Imagine that! 😉) and the Mimosas and glasses.  Sadly, the Limbo table was pretty much off her radar after that…and even getting coffee later was a bit of a struggle.  Kodi didn’t really care that much.  She was eating, laughing ( a lot!) and talking again….and having a wonderful morning.

Bre  who had frequented the buffet numerous times was able to recommend a number of dishes….and of course had her favourites. She loved the Angry Mac & Cheese, and… umm, well, alrighty then…the ‘amazing’ mashed potatoes, and apparently sometimes filled her plate with only them .  ðŸĪŠ

Tom does love his Mac and Cheese, and Bre assured him it was not very spicy.  And off they went, to look at the fancy food displays and to choose their favourites and some experimental dishes.

He enjoyed the fried chicken, bacon, and waffles. Kodi enjoyed nearly everything she tried.  She did a repeat of the shrimp cocktail, and loved the pork loin and Turkey.  The sausage was tasty, and the bone marrow was nice…and of course, since Bre had  gone up ahead of her,  and had left 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes in the container,  she tried them too. Pretty good….but protein was more Kodi’s priority.

Tom took a couple of bites of the Angry Mac and Cheese. Bre had a bite of hers and murmured, “ Hmmm, it’s a lot spicier than the last time I had it” …and looked over at Tom who was finishing his entire glass of water.  It was a good thing they’d asked for a bottle for refills, LOL.   He eventually did eat it all.

Kodi had downsized since she last saw Bre, when they lived in the same area.  Bre laughed and said that they had recently downsized as well, into a house with more square feet then the previous one.  Well, for someone who loves to shop as much as she does, that’s perfect, Kodi thought. All that extra space to fill must have been exciting for her! 😉

The ladies across from Tom and Kodi declared that the Mimosas contained much more orange juice than champagne, so in order to get their vitamin C, they changed their original plan of having one or two,  to decree ‘no limit’ mimosa day. .. but since they were talking and laughing so much, the bottle remained pretty full by the end of the meal, LOL.

Bre had recently bought a new phone case that was packed, it seems, by a bored designer, who modified the ‘insert’ to protect the screen with a very special multi-use piece of foam. (Actually, Kodi has investigated and discovered that Bre’s was the only one he did this to, after seeing her photo on the internet, but please don’t tell her.)

This little tool will ‘stand up’ to a lot of use and can be employed in many different scenarios, such as Cos Play and food preparation ( handy as a mould or scoop for eating soft foods).

They got coffee,  (and Kodi needed to take another pill…which she didn’t have with her, but Bre came to the rescue) tea and dessert, but then had to chase someone down to get the bill settled.  They took advantage of having the server there to get one final photo of them  all together. ( Well a couple, actually, haha.)

Those strawberries that had looked so wonderful , had very waxy chocolate, with an unpleasant taste according to both Tom and Kodi…but judge for yourself.  It was the only thing they left half-eaten on their plates.

It had been great!  Kodi appreciated the invitation, and certainly hopes to see Bre again in the future.

Bre  said that she was pretty sure that the level above where they were had multiple chairs and benches along the walk they were going to take back to the car, and as she looked at Kiddo leaning on her cane and Kodi now leaning onTom 😏 she insisted that she would walk back with them, even though her room was in the tower they were currently in.  True to her word, she walked along with them, patient when they needed to rest from time to time, steadying one or the other when they needed to gingerly sit or get up again.  What a trooper!  And she did this all while carrying a 27 pound purse, Kodi discovered.

Once they got to the proper bank of elevators, she bid them adieu with big hugs, and they made their way back down to the Kiddo Kab.

Exiting the garage took a verrry long time.  The car that was 3 ahead of them sat for 5-10 minutes, trying to pay and get the ‘ugly arm of supreme power’ to lift and release him. The next two did exactly the same. Their driver in the Kiddo Kab was NOT happy. She herself did not have much trouble, but it was an experience that did not make her any more pleased with the Cosmo parking situation.

The Kodis said goodbye to Kiddo at the Orleans drop off and thanked her for her generosity and time spent with them, and wished her BIG BUNCHES of luck. ( This DOES  work occasionally 😉).

They went up to the room for a while, before getting beat up once again by any machine they approached.  At 7:00 they decided to have some appetizers at TGIF, and call it a day.  The flight home was the next day, and they had to start the final pack. That would be a very slow process, since Kodi was now doing a half skip jump, because it was so painful to put weight on her right leg once again.
