#6 Kodi finds out about the 4 Seasons casino…

While they were walking to Slice of Vegas, Toos said she’d walked in a couple of different directions that afternoon and had sort of gotten lost for a while. She’d seen signs for The Four Seasons Hotel lobby, and had gone down the escalator to the casino there, which seemed quite small, but she’d gotten nervous, so had turned around and made her way back until she recognized something.  Hmm, Kodi said, “I was pretty sure that the 4 Seasons was one of the hotels in Vegas that didn’t have a casino, but perhaps that’s changed , as I’ve never been to the hotel.

They thought they would get one of the other delicious looking things they had seen delivered to tables around them the previous night.  Perhaps soup, or pasta…but when  they looked at the menu, at nearly the same time each said “ How about getting the same pizza we had last night?”

Well, that was easy.  It was as good as it had been previously, and Kodi had a cola this time as well.  Pizza and Pop….something she not enjoyed together for years.  Carbs out of control, but she’d deal with the aching joints later…

They ended up at the same table that they sat at the night before, so the little “Beauty Show” continued.  There was a different but just as gorgeous young lady in the Mall just outside the store, handing out samples and probably telling weary strollers “I know I don’t LOOK 50, but that’s just proof of how amazing these creams and serums are.”  They actually saw two people leave with small shopping bags after their personal demonstrations that evening.

Kodi had discovered that some of the Restaurants in Mandalay Place allowed room charges when staying at an MLife hotel, so she asked,  and it was confirmed that Slice of Vegas does.

When they finished their meal, they decided to stroll down the Mall a little further, because Kodi’s knee wasn’t feeling any different than it had before the fall at the pool.   She soon realized that it wouldn’t take long from where they were walking to get to the Luxor’s  inside entrance….where they needed to go in a couple of days.

While chatting about various things Toos noticed a particular store, and said “ Oh yeah, I think this is the way I went when I saw the Four Seasons casino.”  Chuckling, Kodi said “Aww, now I get it.  If you came this way when you wandered, you stumbled across the Luxor casino.  You said you’d walked a couple of different directions, right?  When you walked down past the fancy restaurants on the main level, you saw the  4 Seasons sign…then up here. saw the casino after coming in a second direction. Wow, you really DID do a lot of walking today. And now I’m pretty sure I was right about the 4 Seasons not having a casino, LOL”.

Toos admitted she’d been totally broke by mid afternoon, and didn’t really want to go up to the room.  She then grinned, and said, now that the meal was charged to the room, she could take her dinner $ and play for a few minutes,  and would reimburse Kodi the next day for her half of the bill.  So,  both of them full and happy,  they went their separate ways in the casino until bedtime.  And Toos said the next morning, it was her best sleep since she’d arrived, and she had a $10 ticket from the night before!

Before returning to the room the previous night, Kodi had gone to the Market Express store, and purchased two strawberry, yogurt parfaits, with granola.  They still each had one keurig pod from home left, so had a tasty breakfast in their jammies.

The plan was to go to the pool area again, ( and yes, Kodi would ‘sun’ and enjoy the weather standing up, haha.) Toos wanted to go, but not to subject Kodi to that.  No worries…Kodi suggested trying another pool, and perhaps they’d find some regular armchairs, but if not, they could stay long enough for her friend to have a swim, and get some fresh air, which they were both craving, in spite of the 100+ temps..

Looking at an online property map, Kodi saw that that the Delano pool was nearby, and she’d confirmed that any hotel guest could use it.  They headed there and saw that although the pool was much smaller, there were only two other people in the area.  Best of all, there were steps and a handrail into the pool, beside two available loungers, one of which she moved closer to the edge of the pool.  Of course they were the same type, a foot or so off the ground, but with her cane and the sturdy metal rail, Kodi figured she could manage to sit down and get up again, with some effort, but without too much difficulty.  It worked beautifully!  She was able to dog-paddle the length of the pool, do some stretching and squatting exercises, and relax on the lounger.

She decided to find out if there was a hot tub anywhere in the pool area. Toos said she couldn’t use one any longer, on Doctors orders, but she was happy where she was.The lifeguard was on the opposite side, so Kodi headed over there, startling him when she spoke.  He just waved and said “Past the showers..”. She continued in that direction, saw nothing, and then further along,  noticed a sign to another pool. There was a ramped walkway and wall rails, so she went that way, and came to another pool, with no hot tub, but lots of loungers, some in the shade. She walked the length of that pool , noted washrooms, walked some more , starting to think it was time to turn back.  As she came across yet another pool, she spotted the hot tub.  Thankfully, there were only three people in it.   She lowered herself down using the cane for balance, and sank gratefully onto the seat.  One person left, and a man and his little daughter ( about 3 perhaps) entered.  He walked to the end, and she put on swim goggles and began an underwater marathon, traveling back and forth a couple of dozen times.  He was praising her constantly, so even though Kodi closed her eyes a few times trying to relax and meditate , the peacefulness was broken.  She still enjoyed her time there, but when she’d arrived and there were no “ chatters”  in the tub ( and she herself  been one from time to time in the past) she started thinking about how the trip was going so far.  Soon, not wanting to overdo the hot water, or leave Toos wondering where she’d disappeared to, she began the long trek back, planning a return visit the following day for sure.

They had left the DND sign on their door as they did the day before, because they needed to shower and dress when they returned.  They were later today, so after having their lunchtime protein bars, it was about 1:15 when they left the room, removing the sign,  and once again, leaving a tip for housekeeping.

They spent the afternoon in the casino, and  had agreed to meet at the foot of the escalators, because they were going to hunt for protein at 5:30 p.m.

Kodi finally was able to snag a Money Moolah machine!  She played up and down all afternoon, and was close to even at about 4:30, so hated to be leaving it.  Then she hit a bonus that paid $112.00!  That decided it!  She cashed out $174.00 and there was going finally to be a 100 bill in the Take Home Envelope that night, after 6 days…plus she still had some of her daily stake to play that evening.  When she got over to the cashier, there was a gentleman on a scooter arriving at the same time as her.  He motioned her to go ahead, and she declined, as she felt he was there first ( because, ya know…wheels, versus a cane).  He insisted, and they began to chat as they waited. He suggested she dispense with the cane and get one of those nifty scooters, and listed prices and ways to obtain them, saying it made  such a difference in getting around, both for time and fatigue level.  She thanked him for the advice, but said since this was the first trip she’d had to use the cane full time, she wasn’t ready for that yet. He asked if she had dinner plans, and she said she did, but thanked him. ( IF he was even offering.  She later considered the fact that he might have just been making conversation or looking for a recommendation LOL.)

She met Toos at 5:30 with the good news. ( About her take home 100, and not her scooter man 😉  )

She hadn’t  heard anything negative about the Burger Bar up in the Mall, so they we’re headed there.  Meat was needed after the day’s fare so far.  They quickly got a booth.  Not eating higher end, they’d made no reservations for the trip and had few problems with waiting times.

Kodi chose ‘Mary’s Little Burger’, since she loved a good lamb burger, which she hoped  she’d get here. Toos got a ‘Juicy Lucy’.  Toos ordered cola and Kodi fancied hot water , with lemon…and both had glasses of water.  Kodi got cold water at every meal,  because she sometimes had issues with swallowing ( another symptom of Sjogrens) and drier meat, buns or fries could often be the culprit.

The meals were wonderful and the service excellent…a highly recommended venue, that Kodi hopes to visit again.  She was able to charge this meal back to the room as well, so that was a bonus.  Toos went outside while Kodi paid the bill and used the washroom at the back of the restaurant.  It was nearly 7:00 now, and most tables were full ( including the one she’d vacated moments ago).  As she moved towards the front entrance, someone sitting at a table with 2 companions caught her eye.  Having seen him a few times, unless Mac King has a doppelgänger, he definitely eats at Burger Bar in Mandalay Place.  And no, he wasn’t wearing his plaid suit.  Celebrities have to eat somewhere, right?

Toos was nowhere to be seen in the Mall.  Kodi stood leaning on her cane and since it was busy with pedestrians, she moved over to a wall on the other side of the walkway, her head on a swivel.  About 10 minutes passed before, she became concerned.  What if Toos had fainted? Apparently it had happened in the past, but usually when her blood sugar got too low.  She’d just eaten, but could something else have happened?

Just then the fabulous gal from the Beauty Shop walked over and asked her if she needed to sit down for a few minutes. She must have LOOKED distressed, leaning against the wall.  Kodi thanked her but said she was waiting for someone, and wasn’t interested in any stuff because she was allergic to skin products.  Miss Pretty said there was no obligation to try anything, but she could just use one of their chairs until her friend arrived.  How kind of her….or was it? I imagine there might have been chat intended about certain very pure, non-allergenic products..LOL.

Just then, Toos came into view in the distance and waved, apparently having decided to go to the Mall washroom, where there was a line to use the facilities.  Kodi was so relieved and so annoyed, that it took a few deep breaths before she could find her ‘Vegas face’, as she walked towards her friend.

They played their favourite games ( but Moolah was full) all evening, and Kodi had a couple of small  5cent VP hands,

… but only the $100 went to the room with her, soon to be eaten by the hungry Take Home Envelope.

They also still had the housekeeping tip money, because no one had showed up to do their room after they’d left.  Probably because they had been later that day…. They rearranged the towels they used to make sure they’d dry before the morning.  They both had a habit of tidying up their bed after they left it, so they were able to just crawl back into them.

Tomorrow, they’d finally venture off the Mandalay properties.
