#6 Kodi finds out about the 4 Seasons casino…

Image
While they were walking to Slice of Vegas, Toos said she’d walked in a couple of different directions that afternoon and had sort of gotten lost for a while. She’d seen signs for The Four Seasons Hotel lobby, and had gone down the escalator to the casino there, which seemed quite small, but she’d gotten nervous, so had turned around and made her way back until she recognized something.  Hmm, Kodi said, “I was pretty sure that the 4 Seasons was one of the hotels in Vegas that didn’t have a casino, but perhaps that’s changed , as I’ve never been to the hotel. They thought they would get one of the other delicious looking things they had seen delivered to tables around them the previous night.  Perhaps soup, or pasta…but when  they looked at the menu, at nearly the same time each said “ How about getting the same pizza we had last night?”   Well, that was easy.  It was as good as it had been previously, and Kodi had a cola this time as well.  Pizza and Po...

#7 Escaping the Bay, and heading to New York…

Image
Kodi messaged her friend Kiddo to ask her if shorts would be okay for the dinner portion of their ‘surprise birthday outing’.    “Of course not”, she told her.   “You’re not going to In and Out Burger…it’s a high end restaurant.   “.   Since Capris were the closest they had to anything dressy ( using carry- ons for nearly two weeks) she got a thumbs up for that, but still felt stressed.    So….they’d be out in the desert heat , who knows where..in the afternoon, getting sticky, and maybe stinky, and then going to a fancy restaurant. Good Grief!  😩 Ending that conversation, she dragged her thoughts back to the present.  They were going to have a late lunch at Nine Fine Irishmen at New York, New York later that day, but needed to have a decent breakfast first, so decided to visit Liz at Della’s, for their shared ham and cheddar omelette. Even after a few days away, they were greeted by name and then showed to a table.  Liz said...

#8 Toos’ first Las Vegas Buffet

Image
The two HAD found each other in the casino the night previously.  Kodi made sure that they each brought back a full cup of coffee to the room,  and she had purchased a packaged ham and cheese sandwich and a magic banana before heading upstairs. Breakfast this morning, was iced coffee, fruit, and half the sandwich. It wasn’t bad, but the soggy lettuce was a little off putting, and they agreed not to get a sandwich with lettuce in it again. They didn’t end up going to the pool as planned, because an overnight dust storm had left the air hazy and polluted. A few people were down there, but many fewer than expected on a hot day.  (Kodi didn’t see the storm the night before , but saw lots of photos afterwards.) Toos said she hadn’t fancied the walk to the pool after yesterday’s excursion, anyway .  Her back was quite touchy, perhaps from leaning over the lady in the restaurant for as long as she did, and the tension while doing it…she needed to take extra pain medication,...

#9 The hotel unlocked the doors and let them out again!

They headed out to the pool for one last visit the next morning, and went to the smaller pool area again, rather than the lovely sand beach. Call Kodi paranoid, but she had a feeling if she landed on the ground out there a second time, she might not survive it. They enjoyed a couple of hours of sunshine and a couple of quick dips in the Delano pool, because they were able to get lounges next to Kodi’s ‘assistive’ rail again. They weren’t down there so long that they risked housekeeping missing them, and as they walked slowly back into the building, they said a few ceremonial good byes to the surroundings, since it would be their last visit out there.  They ‘checked out’ the small  Four Season’s pool area through a tightly woven fence, and saw 4 people there. Lovely, and peaceful…and if they want more action, the can visit the beach and lazy river on the Mandalay complex.  Toos and Kodi had seen a lot of families heading to the lazy River when they were on the sand beac...
