Not TI..it’s still Treasure Island, until a whole lot more of us die off.

Early Saturday morning, they continued the discussion they’d begun over chocolate cake in the room before bedtime the previous night.  Kodi was feeling pretty fit, except for some blurry eyes , and if she could get past the sun sensitivity by wearing both her sunglasses and hat, they would slowly walk over to Treasure Island before it got  very hot.  First, they’d go to their breakfast Spot, since it opened at 6:00a.m.

They arrived just after 7:00 and were surprised at how busy it was.  No, wait…it’s Saturday morning, so guess all the East Coasters who had checked in last night had been up for hours. 🀣. The only table that was empty had two medium sized Mirage shopping bags in the middle of it.  Tom looked around and then stood next to it…

Kodi was 4th in line, and the customers ahead of her got their orders and left.  No one was standing anywhere else , so while she was waiting for the order, she motioned to Tom to sit. He shook his head.

When Kodi asked about hot tea for Tom, she was told that the Tea of the Day was Earl Grey, LOL. She looked at the menu and the penny finally dropped.

The Roasted Bean  doesn’t even carry regular black teas!  It was hot chocolate again for him.  πŸ˜‰  That appealed to her as well, so it was those and two toasted bagels with cream cheese…and strawberry jam, please. “ Sorry, we are out”.  No jam, strawberry πŸ“ or otherwise for Kodi….🀨

After heading to the table where Tom still stood , she peeked and saw that the bags were empty, so she put the food down,  folded them up and put them on one of the extra chairs.  It seemed obvious that someone had just left them sitting there rather than throwing them out.

Tom shrugged and sat.  She opened her hot chocolate cup up, and proceeded to swirl bagel bits in the drink as she went about enjoying her breakfast.

By the time they were ready to give up that precious table, there were 4 other empty ones..the early morning breakfast crowd had cleared out.  They retraced the route from yesterday, but continued on past the tram stop which didn’t say it was closed today, so maybe , just maybe…on the way back?, and headed out to the Strip.  Walking slowly, arm in arm, with poor Tom feeling like he was at a standstill 🀣 they made their way over to Treasure Island, which calls itself “TI” now, although many of the old timers don’t honour the new name.  It was before 9 a.m. and there seemed to still be a few people on the Strip that hadn’t made it back to their beds yet, after Friday night shenanigans….and some of them moved as slowly as Kodi.

By the time the were getting nearby the entrance doors, Kodi told Tom she needed to close her eyes, so to let her know if they were coming to a curb or other hazard.  Once they were inside, out of the bright sun, she be alright.

They both found restrooms, and Kodi spotted a Wicked Winnings machine on an aisle she wanted to try. She sat there to try her players card, and was surprised to see that it still worked after all this time.  Guess the management was smart enough to spend their money on less frivolous things than different coloured cards with new logos, and all the paperwork to change rewards club names.

They were going to look around the property, and play a bit , and then check to see if the Tram to the Mirage was operating. 🀞 They agreed to meet at the escalator to the tram in two hours.  Kodi was able to play that original machine for nearly an hour with the $40 she kept from the previous night, while having an orange juice, a bottle of water, a Baileys coffee and a restroom break before it was gone. She foolishly put another $20 in, but all in all, it was the first ‘entertainment’ value session she had enjoyed during the trip. πŸ˜‰

She had a difficult time finding where the video keno machines were hidden in the sprawling casino, but eventually tracked Tom down, and he wasn’t having much luck, so she sat next to him to show him how to play the game…and quickly lost $20. Seriously …how can it disappear so fast , 25 cents at a time?πŸ™„

They had considered finding something to eat while at TI if they stayed long enough, but Kodi knew that she still had a bit of the resort credit left at a Mirage, so they decided that they would go back to Snacks again later that day and charge it to the room.

They headed upstairs and Kodi was delighted to see that  ‘$10 at TI’  was still open!  She had to buy a few things for the gal who was checking their house and getting the mail, so wanted to browse here.  This little place is full of goodies..from scarves and beach towels to costume jewelry and novelties, all in the $10 range.  She picked a couple of things up  (  Tom chose NOT to venture into the store😜) and they headed towards the tram stop.

The tram service from this end had started at noon, so all worked out well, and they were soon back at Mirage.

When  Kodi checked at the Rewards desk, she discovered she had earned $20 in slot dollars, and she had them loaded onto her card to play.

They stayed together all afternoon, looking for “silly slots”, but only machines that had a double seat in front.  Tom would put $20 in and Kodi a second $20.  They each would spin three times. On a  couple of occasions  they got the balance up to $150 if there were decent bonus games.  They then took the money out, and Tom cashed the ticket, with them putting a hundred dollar bill aside for the take home envelope, and reinvesting $50.  They eventually lost the original stake and $20 more each.  This kept them busy until after 4 p.m. when they decided to eat an early supper.

Off to Snacks again they went, and although there were other nice looking things on the menu, memories of that Double Cheeseburger had them ordering that again..at full cost this time, but it was charged to the room, and nearly half of it was covered by the remaining resort credit. Tom also had a pop, and Kodi a nice hot coffee.  Note, that it was extremely cool in the sitting area both times they were there.

No more fancy cake that night…because they were stuffed.  After trying video poker one more time, and failing dismally, Kodi headed to the room to start organizing the suitcases.  They would be on the move AGAIN the next morning., Easter Sunday.
