Off they go to find their Treasure!

They awoke on Good Friday morning after an excellent sleep, probably due to the ‘bit ‘ of exercise they’d gotten the day before.

It was going to be really warm finally, and Kodi suggested a trip out to the pool, just to relax a little. Neither would stand in a pool in water up to their hips with others,  guzzling alcohol ðŸ˜‰ but she had a book she could read , and Tom could doze or just lay in the shade.

“Not interested…at all.  Why don’t we take the tram over to Treasure Island and have a look around there. It’s been years since we stayed there or even visited.”  She was up for that, so they headed downstairs and made the trip to The Roasted Bean, after he had a glass of his Orange juice in the room.

The carrot cake had been very tasty (though she missed vanilla ice cream on it, LOL) and she was still full, but thought she would have a coffee…with lots of cream to cool it down!  Tom had his bagel and hot chocolate, and then they headed through the jungle walkway to the front doors.

Tom took Kodi’s arm and maneuvered through the valet and bellman maze outside, then they turned left and began to walk.  The could see as they strolled along, that the sign was up saying Tram in Service (actually just showing the hours it is running) and there was a couple standing waiting.  Yay!

Hmm, not waiting.  Talking to someone inside the tram.  As they got closer, they saw it was someone in coveralls and wearing a tool belt talking to someone else inside the car.  Closer….someone on a ladder, looking into the ceiling.  “No damn tram today, Mam.”  ( The last quote was inside Kodi’s head , not out of the maintenance worker’s mouth.)

The other couple turned, and the fellow said to his gal…. “ It’s not very far. Let’s just walk.”  Now other Vegas veterans may be able to interpret that statement differently than Kodi did, but since she had walked that walk a couple of times in the past,  she just sighed and prepared to spend a few hours in the Mirage, since it was getting really hot out.  Perhaps tomorrow morning, early, she could make that walk though…🤔

They headed back inside, through the jungle again.

Kodi told Tom she was going over to a bar and play video poker, have a few Bailey coffees and make their fortune.  It was the first time she’d put a hundred dollar bill into a machine, instead of breaking it down first…and she thought THAT might change her luck. Of course what actually happened was that after two rather strong ‘special’ coffees ( the bartender’s fault, surely), she dropped below her $40.00 cut off point, and then said “What the hell…in for a dollar…”.  She hadn’t had a quad or full house even, but she had such a comfy chair ( in the corner) and was enjoying listening to the bartenders chat amongst themselves.  She slunk off the chair with $1 on a cash out ticket, after declining another coffee.

They  had arranged to meet outside the California Pizza Kitchen at 4:30,  so she just putzed around all afternoon , dropping $10s and $20s in random machines, cashing out if she doubled them , and checking out every washroom on the casino floor at least once, with their lovely, easy to use handicapped stalls.

Tom had hit 5/6 on video keno a few times, so wasn’t down much.  Kodi figured she’d play that game the rest of the evening…25cents at a time.

It was early, but there were a few people eating and drinking, and a large group with their carry-ons, either arriving or leaving…

They were seated just up the staircase, on the rail.   That was fine until just after they received their drinks…water for Kodi, and pop for Tom, a young woman, stood directly next to them, leaning on the rail, texting and perhaps waiting for someone.  The menu stand was posted near there as well, so people came, read,  and went on their way, much like what happens if you have a rail seat outside at Mon Ami Gabi.

Kodi actually thought about pulling the bountiful, black curly hair, inches from her elbow, more than once. ☺️  Just as their pizza was arriving however, the gal’s  friend arrived and after chatting for a couple of minutes, they walked away.

They had been discussing getting either a BBQ Chicken Pizza or a Garlic Chicken one, and the waiter said “ Why don’t you get it half and half? “. “Oh, you can do that?” marveled Kodi. “Sure can!”  They did just that, and enjoyed both varieties.

What the waiter hadn’t mentioned when he suggested the half and half, was that there was an extra $3 charge for doing a split. When he brought the bill and Kodi asked him what the extra charge was he told them and said “It’s right on the menu.”  Of course they hadn’t seen that , because they hadn’t been going to do a split. 😂

They both played video keno for a few mind-numbing hours that night…and Kodi actually went to bed with $40 in her nightgown pocket.

She also….☺️ picked up a piece of chocolate cake ( Duo cake actually) at Snacks, to take to the room.  Not nearly as fresh or tasty as the carrot cake…be warned.
